DOT 5 OF 6
Customs. UKCA, EORI, VAT — handled.
UK and EU customs clearance, compliance documentation, and import duty optimisation.
WHAT WE DO HERE
Customs & Compliance — in practice.
Customs is the single biggest source of avoidable cost in cross-border supply chains. The wrong commodity code can cost 5–10% in extra duty. Missing VAT registration can stall your inventory at the port for weeks. Non-compliant labelling can trigger product recalls.
Lynxdots manages these moving parts end-to-end. We don’t outsource compliance to a separate broker — we coordinate directly with the customs authority and your freight forwarder.
WHAT WE DELIVER
At this dot, you get:
- ●UK customs clearance (import declarations, duty payments, deferment account setup).
- ●EU customs clearance (single import point planning, OSS / IOSS).
- ●EORI and VAT registration for UK and EU.
- ●UKCA / CE / REACH / GPSR compliance — documentation, testing referral, declaration of conformity.
- ●HS / commodity code optimisation — finding the lowest-duty correct classification.
- ●Customs case support when shipments are held or queried.
SOUND FAMILIAR?
If any of these sound familiar…
- “HMRC held my last shipment because of a missing certificate I’d never heard of.”
- “I’m paying 12% duty on a product I think should be classified lower — but no one will give me a straight answer.”
- “I keep getting different VAT rates quoted by different agents.”
FROM THE GROUND
A recent example.
A wholesale importer of small electrical accessories was paying 6.7% UK import duty on commodity code 8504.40. We re-reviewed the classification and identified that the products qualified under 8536.50 at 2.5%. We refiled for the prior 12 months under HMRC’s look-back rule, recovering £18,200 in overpaid duty. The new rate now applies to every future container.
